Man Arrested in Mathura for Threatening CM Yogi Online

Mathura police apprehended a man named Sunit alias ‘Katua,’ aged 30, for allegedly threatening the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The arrest took place on Friday evening at his residence in Nagla Hardayal, Mant area.

The motive behind the threat, conveyed through a viral social media video, involves Sunit brandishing a pistol and vowing to shoot CM Yogi Adityanath by September 25, after which he threatened to take his own life. He showcased a magazine claiming it contained nine bullets, stating he would ‘fire all nine.’

Residents of the area reported that Sunit had previously raised a complaint with the Chief Minister’s office, expressing frustration over inaction regarding his grievances. This sense of negligence allegedly led to his drastic threats.

When police arrived to arrest Sunit, he barricaded himself in his home and opened fire from the third floor, threatening to turn the gun on himself. After an intense standoff that lasted nearly an hour, the police successfully subdued him and confiscated the weapon along with live cartridges.

Local villagers remarked that Sunit had been experiencing severe mental distress, often becoming vocal about his personal issues. Many observed that his behavior had deteriorated significantly over recent months, contributing to concerns surrounding his mental health.

The alarming video quickly circulated on social media platforms, prompting swift intervention from the authorities. Investigators are currently examining how Sunit obtained the firearm and the underlying reasons for his threats against CM Yogi Adityanath.

The police charged Sunit with serious offenses, including criminal intimidation, attempting to incite violence, and illegal possession of arms. They assured the public that this matter is under rigorous investigation to ensure accountability.
