Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated the new Centre of Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital at Qamarwari in Srinagar today, emphasizing the need for accessible and affordable healthcare in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor urged the medical community to connect specialists with patients in rural and remote areas of J&K, stating, “Over the past decade, modern technologies have fundamentally transformed the eye care field. Today, it offers faster and more accurate diagnoses along with personalized treatments.”
Shri Sinha highlighted that AI-powered systems now enable doctors to detect early signs of diseases and eye problems effectively. He encouraged Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and other hospitals in the region to leverage these advanced technologies to provide treatment equivalents available in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai.
“Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, we are ensuring that every citizen has access to quality healthcare,” the Lieutenant Governor remarked. His comments reflect a commitment to the significant transformation occurring in Jammu and Kashmir’s healthcare sector.
He pointed to the rapid expansion of both government and private healthcare infrastructures, which are vital in ensuring a healthy and prosperous future for the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.
Shri Sinha called for Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and other hospitals to organize free eye check-up camps, particularly in rural and border areas, reflecting a spirit of selfless service. He suggested that to enhance reach and accessibility, the healthcare services should include telemedicine, virtual consultations, and digital examinations.
Dr. Ashar Agarwal, Chief Business Officer of Dr Agarwals Group of Eye Hospitals, Dr. Atif Ali Mir, Head of Clinical Services at Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, along with doctors and staff from the hospital were present at the inaugural ceremony.
Among the attendees were key officials including Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary of the Science & Technology department; Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary of Health and Medical Education; Shri Anshul Garg, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir; and other dignitaries from various sectors, showcasing the broad support for this healthcare initiative.
The launch of this eye hospital marks a significant step toward improved healthcare accessibility in the region, with a strong focus on incorporating modern technologies like AI into everyday medical practices.
