Police officers, including SDPOs and SHOs, conducted inspections at car dealerships across their jurisdictions, meticulously examining records related to vehicle sales and purchases. These checks target instances where individuals acquire multiple vehicles, a pattern frequently associated with suspicious activity.
During the dealership visits, officers verified documentation to ensure strict adherence to established protocols. The police instructed car dealers to maintain comprehensive records, including Aadhaar details and phone numbers of buyers and sellers. This step seeks to enhance transparency and accountability in vehicle transactions.
Officials described this inquiry as part of an extensive effort to bolster surveillance and curb the misuse of vehicles for anti-social or illegal purposes. The strategic move aims to foster a security-conscious community.
