Vibrance Hub: Student Initiative Merges Project-Learning & Yoga

COIMBATORE — Rithanya Sivaram, a Class 12 student at The Indian Public School, has launched Vibrance Hub, a unique platform integrating project-based learning, peer collaboration, and wellbeing support. This initiative aims to address a significant gap in education as India prepares its youth for an AI-dominated future that prioritizes creativity over rote knowledge.

“In the age of AI, information is commoditized,” says Sivaram. “What matters now is what you can make, how you think, and whether you can sustain creative work over time.” She emphasizes that the Atal Tinkering Labs have equipped students with the necessary tools and space to innovate on a national scale. Vibrance Hub aims to provide the needed community and wellbeing practices to transform interests into sustained making.

Structured around MIT’s Lifelong Kindergarten framework — Passion, Projects, Peers, and Play — Vibrance Hub recognizes that maker education transcends mere construction. It focuses on developing vital skills such as computational thinking, resilience through iteration, and collaboration, all of which remain irreplaceable by AI.

Sivaram’s vision encapsulates a return to India’s educational roots. Long before Macaulay’s Minutes on Education in 1835 imposed a rigid rote-learning system, India’s gurukul tradition thrived on experiential learning. Students learned subjects like metallurgy through practical forging, astronomy through observation, and medicine through hands-on practice.

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 reflects this shift in focus, advocating for a revival of maker-centric education. It stresses that India’s prosperity hinges on nurturing creators and innovators rather than mere information processors.

Additionally, the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), initiated by NITI Aayog in 2016, embodies India’s commitment to operationalizing the maker-centric philosophy. AIM responds directly to NEP 2020’s call, establishing infrastructure for hands-on learning, ultimately fostering an environment for creativity and innovation across the nation.

By launching the Vibrance Hub, Sivaram not only embodies the spirit of innovation but also actively contributes to reshaping the educational landscape of India. Her initiative resonates with the growing need for a dynamic approach to learning — one that nurtures creativity and adaptability in students. As the education sector continues to evolve, platforms like Vibrance Hub signify critical steps towards a brighter, more innovative future for Indian students.
