Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat, the esteemed former chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), passed away at age 90 and was laid to rest in Sopore on Wednesday evening.
Prof. Bhat, known for his commitment to dialogue and peaceful engagement, died at his ancestral home in the Botingoo area of Sopore. He fondly recalled their shared memories at Government Colleges in Baramulla and Sopore. Soz highlighted Prof Bhat’s lovable nature, saying, “He was a very ‘Maranjan Maranj’ person, who never bore resentment against anyone.” His sentiment resonates with many who knew Prof Bhat.
Chowdary Mohammad Ramzan, a former minister and close student of Prof Bhat, also paid tribute, emphasizing Bhat’s role as a mentor during their academic years. “He shaped the lives of countless students. Above all, he was humble and kind, respected by everyone,” Ramzan recalled.
