Doda, Nov 2: In a momentous advancement for healthcare in the Chenab Valley, the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda has successfully completed its first-ever thrombolysis procedure on a stroke patient. This significant medical milestone marks a turning point in emergency healthcare services for the region.
The procedure occurred under the leadership of Principal Dr. Rakesh Bahl and Head of the Department of Medicine, Dr. Amir Hussain Parray, heralding the introduction of this advanced, time-sensitive treatment at the local level.
The patient, Roshan Lal, a resident of Dolli village in Gundna tehsil, arrived at GMC Doda displaying classic stroke symptoms. Prompt evaluation and treatment from the Medicine Department team, led by Dr. Govinder Kumar (MD Medicine), with assistance from Dr. Divyanshu (Resident Doctor) and Dr. Momin (Intern), ensured immediate action. Essential support came from Mr. Rajinder Singh, Mr. Arif Mir, and the dedicated nursing staff.
Following the thrombolytic therapy, medical professionals report that the patient is recovering steadily. This breakthrough signifies a major leap forward in emergency medical care for stroke victims.
Residents of Doda and neighboring areas previously faced critical delays, as acute stroke patients had to be transferred to GMC Jammu or other destinations for timely medical intervention. Now, with the capabilities established at GMC Doda, patients can receive world-class management for strokes directly in the district.
