A senior officer from the Border Security Force (BSF), Inspector General Ashok Yadav, recently highlighted that terrorists are poised at launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) with intentions to infiltrate into the Kashmir valley. Speaking to reporters, Yadav confirmed that security forces remain on high alert and are well-prepared to thwart any infiltration attempts.
Yadav emphasized the trend of increased infiltration attempts typically observed before winter, stating, “There are always attempts to infiltrate before snowfall. There are still about two months, and chances of infiltration are there till November because they know they will have lesser chances for the next six months.”
The IG noted that terrorist groups often seize opportunities to infiltrate during adverse weather conditions to avoid detection. He explained, “Sometimes they wait for inclement weather to make a move. So, the attempts are always there, but we are prepared and alert for any eventuality.”
Yadav clarified that the presence of terrorists at launch pads, particularly in the Bandipora and Kupwara sectors, poses an ongoing challenge. However, he reassured that security forces have mechanisms in place to counter these threats. “The security is very tight,” he asserted. With the help of advanced surveillance technology and close coordination with the Army, forces are significantly strengthening their operational readiness along the LoC.
In addition to monitoring activities, Yadav shared that the BSF and Army have successfully foiled two infiltration attempts this year. He attributed these successes to heightened vigilance and the modern methodologies employed by security forces. He mentioned, “It is very difficult to infiltrate our AOR because of the alertness with which we perform our duties and the new methodology and new surveillance equipment that we have.”
As winter approaches, the emphasis remains on maintaining a proactive stance against infiltration threats. Security agencies continually assess and adapt their strategies to ensure the safety of the Kashmir valley against external threats. With a commitment to uphold security and peace in the area, BSF personnel, in collaboration with the Army, stand ready to respond firmly to any challenges along the border.
